    Hit the Lights (I’m On)

Hit the Lights (I’m On) from Benjamin Ahr Harrison on Vimeo.

I directed this music video for the extremely talented A. Pinks, a Queens-based rapper that you should definitely keep an eye on.

    I Still Miss the Dreads

But busta still has more rhymes per square inch than anyone. Also more costume changes.

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand

    Sweet mother of god…

    Wu Chess

Wu Chess is the Rza’s latest project. It brings hip-hop, chess and martial arts together to teach kids to think before they act. Also, it has the Rza in it, which makes it great.

Watch a local news story about it.

    Update from the Coal Mine

I’ve been on the proverbial grind to finish two music videos so I can direct my fourth at the beginning of next month. Putting in these crazy 16 hour days. While you wait, look at this incredibly apt graph that Mic Hoffman sent me. Then click on it to learn more about The Way The World Works.

    Kanye’s New Company

How fucking tempting is it to buy airplane tickets from Kanye West?

Do they fly to Atlanta, L.A., Miami, N.Y., summertime Chi?

Or maybe Houston, Philly, D.C., VA, or the Bay, or Yay?

    Things I Have Lost

Back at the end of high school some friends and I made a 30 minute movie called Character. We made a pretty great website for it too, and snagged the domain name moviecharacter.com. I haven’t been paying for that domain for a long time now though, and some sleazy parking page is on it now. Bummer since we’re going to rewrite and reshoot that movie pretty soon.

Here’s a screenshot from the Star Trek thing I shot today!

    Happy April!

    Hell of a Day

Wow! Things with Paramount got going fucking fast. I visited a set where one of their other directors was in the process of getting fired—awkward. Since I was the schmuck that happened to be there just then and they didn’t want to take a loss on the whole day they plunked me into the video village and asked me to finish the scheduled shots. Fuck. Well I had to cancel a couple, but I think I did an okay job considering. They said I could show some screens on here so check back for when the editor emails them over.

    Big Break

I just got out of a breakfast meeting with some production people from Paramount who are putting together a series of shorts for the web to be realeased over the six months leading up to the release of the new Star Trek film next May. They have me writing and directing one! I’ll be meeting with J.J. Abrams in a few days to get an idea of the feeling he’s going for with the main picture and where my short will work in the scheme of the story. Oh man am I excited!
